For the past two weeks, I have struggled to move ahead, even though I have a clear to-do list is a mile long. I know that physical and mental exhaustion plays a part, but by the end of last week, I began to question what was really going on.

Yes, I need to practice self-care and allow my body to heal from a long, stressful year, but where is the line between honoring my body and indulging my fears and worries? I have experienced something similar when I get bogged down in busy work, as well; anytime we have the ability to tackle the big stuff, but find a reason not to. That right there. That is the perfect time to do the hard work.

Because thought work is never done.
Our thoughts affect our results. And with each goal we meet, there are new layers to work through.

It has been almost five years since I first said to myself, “There has to be a better way. There has to be something different.” And yet the line from there to where I am today has been anything but straight.

I was exhausted from battling the same 30 pounds for years.
So I went on a strict candida diet.
And then my dad died.
And then I starting taking Advocare products.
And then I started selling Advocare products and coaching people.
And then I had to acknowledge that there was still a void somewhere.
And then I mentally wandered around for a bit.
And then I found the Body Image Movement and started focusing on self-worth.
And then I found mentors to guide me.
And then I started doing the tough thought work.
And then I got certified to coach others through this thought work.
And then I stopped doing the tough thought work. I mean, I was busy!
And so with nothing extraordinary on my calendar for the first time in seven months, I have been unable to move forward. Because it is time for me to step up to the next big goal, and it is scary.

The bad news is that this change your mindset, change your body approach to health and fitness has no end. We are not doing this work to end up at a destination. It is a journey that continues. With each new layer shed – literal and figurative – a new one will appear, and we need to continue the same thought downloads and working the self-fulfilling prophecy model.

The good news is that it will be worth it! The things that used to stop you in your tracks will no longer have the same power. Not only will this journey shed weight, it will shed light on how our interactions with others and our relationship with ourselves affects every aspect of our life, not just what the scale is reading this week.

It will rock your world. If you let let it.

The day we reach the end is the day we die. Keep taking one step forward each day, and peeling back the layers to find the real you inside. It is good stuff. And the journey is so worth it.
